Battery Testers

Battery Testers

When a person thinks, battery testers, it’s safe to assume that mind switches to car batteries; not so.  Battery Testers can range from the smallest coin-style lithium battery such as digital camera, calculators, hearing aids and such; right up to heavy duty semi-trailer batteries.  Therefore before investing in a battery tester, it’s wise to know exactly what you are wanting – that stands to reason.   Are they even necessary?  We think so.

What is a battery tester?  As you know, a battery cell normally contains an electric charge and then only for a limited time. Let’s liken it to a glass jar in which you put your pennies and small change.  Of course, if you keep taking out that small change, there’s going to be nothing left.  Same deal with a battery.  Keep on using it and soon it’ll go flat, sometimes in embarrassing situations – like no power for your cell phone.  You can see by checking on your jar, how much change you have in it.  This is not always the case with batteries.   Nine times out of ten it is fairly hard to know how much charge is left.  On a lot of gadgets these days such as digital cameras or cell phones, there is an indicator of sorts – but that’s not always reliable.  This is where a good battery tester comes in handy.  It can determine how much ‘juice’ you have left in the battery.

There are many types of battery testers; there is one to suit the piece of equipment you’re using.  Some battery testers are built into the battery itself, but in the main, most battery testers are portable.   Perhaps the most overworked battery is the car battery and what better a good battery tester than a car battery tester.   Today’s cars come with many electrical devices and these electronics need to have a dependable reservoir of power and the battery has to supply that.  Faulty and bad batteries (as in cheap) can cause very expensive electronic breakdown.  Take our word for it; the average car has 11 lbs of wire in its complex electrical system.

Consider the battery testers to be like ECGs; as the EGC seeks out heart problems, the battery testers have a similar role.  Whether the battery is big or small; battery testers are an integral part of your home or garage tool kits.   For those who rely on the bigger vehicles – caravan haulers, light trucks and the like, think battery load tester.  This is a device which can be supplied by your auto electrical retailer and it gives a fairly comprehensive test.

If you are really concerned about your electronic equipment other than the car; you have electronic retailers who will advise you on the best battery testers to suit you need and budget.  Battery testers for all batteries great and small.
